This is a block diagram and photo of the Solar Observatory. The system is defined by a
discone antenna oriented on the southern meridian at an angle
perpendicular to the Sun. The signal is amplified by 25 dB with a
preamplifier, then feed into the HP 141T spectrum analyzer which is set
to sweep for 20 seconds from 200 - 400 MHz. The signal sweep is transfered to a computer running DigiSpectrum software via a LabJack U12 A/D
converter. Every 120 seconds the spectrum image is uploaded to the JSS
internet page featuring live Solar Xray and Spectral Data. |
